Tobacco
In This Country of Ours, we are reading about the Indians and Jamestown colony.
They discovered that the Indians smoked tobacco. The people in England wanted it. Sir Walter Raleigh brought it back to England.
The colonists grew it and sold it to England.
King James thought tobacco was a thing from the pit of hell. He said it will make your brain hurt and make your lungs bad.
They didn’t care what he thought they kept smoking it.
I agree with the King.

I definitely agree with the king. He was wise beyond his time. Other people’s tobacco smoke gives me horrible headaches – so I guess my brain is hurting! We are very glad that soon the state of Michigan’s smoking ban for public places will take effect!
I agree with you James and I agree with the King….it’s to
bad people didn’t listen to him a long time ago.

I agree wth you and the king. It is being proven how bad second hand smoke is also. My sister died from lung cancer. She suffereded for a long time.
I agree that smoking tobacco-daily-will make your lungs bad, but not that tobacco is from the pit of hell (I don’t think any of God’s creations are from the pit of hell).
